34 <PRE>I thank you for finally just coming out and telling me what I needed to know
35 in the first place. Had you stated that it has been discussed before (even
36 without the hyperlinks) I would have at least known to go look through the
37 archives. However, all you said (then repeated) was RTFM. I DID read it,
38 once before I asked, and twice more, at your instruction, and found nothing
39 to answer my questions. Had I known it had already been discussed, I would
40 certainly have tried to locate the answer that way.
42 Thank you to all the others who've posted to try and explain what I was
43 missing in my understanding of this directive. I got it now, and realize
44 where my misinterpretation was. Seems obvious now, but frankly that
45 directive managed to fool myself and
8 of my staff into thinking of it as I
46 have previously described. Regardless, my apologies for any harsh words...
47 I do stand by the fact that Andrew could have responded with a bit less
48 apathy to the concerns raised; with something a bit less useless than RTFM
49 (twice! even AFTER I said I had, THAT'S what pissed me off), and I hope that
50 maybe Andrew will remember this chain of events for the next time someone
51 has a problem that might be immediately obvious to Andrew, but not the
52 person with the problem. I think most of us KNOW by now to read the docs
53 before asking questions; but if the question arises due to misinterpretation
54 of the docs, how would reading them over and over help?
56 Thank you all for your time.

67 You know, I might have been more forgiving if this hadn't been gone
68 over on this list (twice!) before:
70 <A HREF=

73 However, since you seem to have trouble both comprehending the
74 documentation and reading the archives, I have added FAQ F
.10 for your
77 F
.10. Services doesn't kill users matching a newly-added autokill mask even
78 if ImmediatelySendAutokill is set.
80 Services never kills users when a new autokill is added; the
81 ImmediatelySendAutokill configuration directive only causes
82 Services to send the autokill itself (that is, the user/host mask
83 to prohibit new connections from) to the IRC servers on your
84 network. This is a safety feature intended to limit the damage
85 caused by a mistyped autokill.
87 Note that some IRC servers will themselves kill users matching a
88 newly-added autokill; this is unrelated to Services.
