| 170 | <h1 id="code-of-conduct-coc"><span class="enumerate-headings-plugin enumerate-heading-plugin">3.</span> Code of Conduct (CoC)<a class="headerlink" href="#code-of-conduct-coc" title="Permanent link">#</a></h1> |
| 171 | <p>All Administrative Body (AB) members are required to adhere to a |
| 172 | reasonable Code of Conduct (CoC) by treating each other fairly and |
| 173 | with respect.</p> |
| 174 | <p>Disagreements between the AB members are expected and even welcomed to |
| 175 | help understand various positions on different matters impacting the |
| 176 | network or its sponsors. Objections to a motion (with or without |
| 177 | formal RFD or CFV) are expected to be substantiated for others to |
| 178 | understand a given position and fairly respond.</p> |
| 179 | <p>The AB consists of many people from different |
| 180 | backgrounds. Sometimes simple language barriers can even cause issues |
| 181 | between members. It is, however, expected that the AB consists of |
| 182 | rational and reasonable individuals who can set aside differences to |
| 183 | work together toward a common goal of providing a stable IRC service |
| 184 | that continues to prosper alongside the newer chat mediums of today.</p> |
| 185 | <p>All AB members are expected to:</p> |
| 186 | <ul> |
| 187 | <li>be friendly and patient</li> |
| 188 | <li>be welcoming</li> |
| 189 | <li>be considerate</li> |
| 190 | <li>be respectful</li> |
| 191 | <li>be careful in the words that you choose and be kind to others</li> |
| 192 | <li>attempt to understand the positions of others</li> |
| 193 | </ul> |
| 194 | <p>Excessive or continued poor behavior toward other members has in the |
| 195 | past resulted in lost and disinterested members and therefore will not |
| 196 | be tolerated.</p> |
| 197 | <p>Poor behaviour includes a pattern of the below toward AB members or |
| 198 | their teams:</p> |
| 199 | <ul> |
| 200 | <li>derogatory remarks</li> |
| 201 | <li>excessive foul language</li> |
| 202 | <li>threats or blackmail</li> |
| 203 | </ul> |
| 204 | <p>Furthermore, a blatant unwillingness to work well alongside the |
| 205 | general AB by avoiding reasonable requests or attacking others to |
| 206 | deflect focus on themselves when politely questioned is also deemed |
| 207 | poor behaviour.</p> |
| 208 | <p>The Administrative Oversight Board (AOB) is tasked with addressing |
| 209 | poor behaviour among AB members, at their discretion but guided by the |
| 210 | above. Issues can be presented for review to the AOB by AB members if |
| 211 | they deem appropriate. A majority of the AOB may decide upon one of |
| 212 | these responses:</p> |
| 213 | <ul> |
| 214 | <li>no action necessary</li> |
| 215 | <li>polite requests for improvement and/or reminding the individuals of |
| 216 | expected behaviour</li> |
| 217 | <li>temporary suspension of an AB member's privileges (voting or |
| 218 | otherwise) -- up to 6 months</li> |
| 219 | <li>permanent removal of an AB member, positions held, and/or their |
| 220 | server(s) -- including without prior suspension in extreme cases.</li> |
| 221 | </ul> |
| 222 | <p>Decisions made by the AOB will be notified to the AB via email to the |
| 223 | Undernet Admins mailing list with an explanation and details of said |
| 224 | decision.</p> |
